This week I was asked to be interviewed for a website called Femfessionals & the Pink Collar Business Center. See what they did there? Fem
ale Professionals. Snazzy. They asked me some really good questions! Thanks ladies!!
Here is a sneak peak of the article interview with a link to read the rest if you desire. Enjoy!
1. What was your motivation in starting Healthy Grocery Girl® LLC?
I had many reasons! One is that I struggled with my own health in high school and college, so I know how much it can affect your life when you are sick. I wanted to help people overcome their health problems so they too could go on to achieve their best life. I also have an immense desire to create and contribute meaningful work, and Healthy Grocery Girl® is my platform to do so. I also wanted to love going to work everyday and to be able to call my own shots, and I do!
2. It looks like you are following your passion. How have you been able to make a career out of following your passion?
Yes I have! I have two sides to my business, coaching and consulting and then being a nutrition expert through media outlets such as TV, magazine, websites and radio. They are different in many ways but also very similar. What I do is not the conventional job, and there are many ups and downs. But I have been able to make a career out of it because I believe in what I’m doing, and I am truly passionate about it so I can’t imagine doing anything else.
3. When did your passion begin?
I have always had a creative mind since I was a little girl. I was creating businesses in my back yard at the age of 7 and recruiting the neighbor kids to help me run them. As I’ve grown up and gone through life experiences the different elements of my passions such as nutrition, education through television, business and entrepreneurship have developed more.
4. How did you achieve expert status in your industry so much so that you write and speak on various health and food related topics?
I went to school to achieve my Bachelors of Science in Health and Human Development, Food and Science. I then completed a year long accredited dietetic internship program which qualified me to take the national Registered Dietitian “RD” exam. I passed my RD exam, and complete continuing education to keep my credentials. I am both a Registered and Licensed Dietitian as well as hold a certificate in Adult Weight Management. I am also a published author, which helps you achieve a level of expertise. I also read and learn about nutrition every day, and I am constantly researching about business and the television industry. For me what I do is not a job I clock in and out for, it’s an all day, every day desire to improve and grow. I truly love what I do, and that is what gives me the energy to work the hours needed to be truly qualified and considered an expert. I take that role and responsibility seriously.
