What I Eat In A Day + 3 Ways To Enjoy Hemp Hearts

Hi Friends! Welcome back to Healthy Grocery Girl! Today I’m sharing with you what I Eat In A Day! As an ambassador for Manitoba Harvest®, who is sponsoring this blog post and video, I will also be sharing 3 ways to enjoy Manitoba Harvest Products easily throughout the day! Now let’s get started!

Breakfast: I start the day with a big glass of water and then I’ve been making a yogurt bowl with greek almond milk yogurt, Hemp Yeah! Granola, fresh fruit such as diced apple, a dash of cinnamon and some pumpkin seeds! This granola has 10 grams of protein in a ¾ cup serving from ingredients like pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, quinoa and hemp hearts. Combined with the yogurt, granola and added pumpkin seeds this breakfast packs in over 22 grams of protein!

If you’re new to a plant-based diet (whether that’s eating completely vegan or reducing your intake of animal based proteins) you may be wondering or have been asked, “How will you get enough protein?” The average sedentary male needs 56 grams of protein per day and the average sedentary woman needs 46 grams per day. Activity levels, pregnancy, and health status will affect how much protein you need. However, if eating a varied plant-based diet based in real food and ingredients it’s easy to meet and exceed your protein needs! Protein is essential for feeling full and satisfied, helping to balance blood sugar and hormone levels and support muscle growth.

Snack: For my morning snack I’ve been having a little green smoothie with spinach, banana, frozen fruit and sometimes a plant-based protein powder or I’ll use a higher protein pea protein milk.

Lunch: Lunch today is a salad which mixed greens, yellow bell peppper, black beans, avocado and then I love to top my salads with hemp hearts! Hemp hearts have 10 grams of protein and 12 grams of Omega 3&6 fats per serving. It’s just a really simple and easy way to add more plant-based protein and healthy fats to your meals and snacks!

Snack: For an afternoon snack I’m having one of these New Hemp Yeah! Bars. These bars have 10 grams of plant-based protein and 6 grams of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fats. They are also gluten-free and vegan! If I’m extra hungry I’ll also have a handful of almonds.

For Dinner: Tonight we’re having this cozy pumpkin chili! It has so much flavor and is high in plant-based protein and fiber. Did you know that 1 cup of lentils has 18 grams of protein?! Pumpkin is also rich in vitamin A, C and fiber! I will add the recipe link in the video description box below! Sometimes with chili I’ll have a slice of gluten-free toast with butter or homemade cornbread!

In the evening I love a cup of chamomile ginger tea and if I’m hungry a little evening snack!
