I get excited for Fridays-eve as well when I can share new videos with you guys!! Means so much that you watch!! xx
I totally understand everything you wrote! Going 80 / 20 plant-based is totally realistic and a great healthy approach! I find that some people have the “All or Nothing” mentality and don’t even try eating more plant-based because they think it means that they would have to be vegan forever and that sounds too scary or completed! That’s why I love plant-based because it means our diet is BASED in plants! Not necessarily 100%… that’s a personal choice!! 🙂 Anyways… I could go on and on but just wanted to say I totally support you and love that you’re committed to eating more plants!! 🙂
Before I started HGG I worked many office jobs where I was surrounded by people who didn’t share the same enthusiasm for nutrition ha!! I always found that the best way to handle those type of situations are just to keep being me, making healthy food I enjoyed and not judging others if there choices were not so healthy. People start to come around when your meals look really fresh and tasty and you have a great attitude and energy towards healthy living!! Just gotta be you and do your thing in a positive way!!
Once again welcome to HGG and let me know if you have any questions!! Always here to help and chat!! xx Megan
Hi Robyn! Welcome to HGG! So happy to have you apart of the HGG Member’s Community now!! Congrats on the birth of your baby girl!!
I’m sure you already know that it’s best to to not cut calories when breastfeeding however focusing on eating more real, whole foods is a great step in the right direction!! I’ve heard from a lot of HGG member’s and our coaching clients find that by eating more real, whole, plant-based foods they were able to lose weight and they didn’t diet or deprive themselves. Every person’s body is different, but I hope this is encouraging to you!! xx
Which documentaries did you watch or love most? I’ve seen quite a few too!! Forks Over Knives and Food Inc. were two that opened my eyes to eating more real, plant-based foods!
If you have any questions about nutrition, health or the HGG Membership please don’t hesitate to ask me here in the forums or email! That’s what I’m here for! xx Megan
Hi Jennifer!! Welcome!! Congrats on the nutribullet purchase!! I use our blender every single day, it’s such a great kitchen staple!! So happy to have you apart of HGG! Let me know if you have any questions!! xx Megan
How long you can store your flour depends on what type of flour you are storing and how you are storing it. Refined flours like all-purpose can last 1-2 years while whole grain and alternative flours last for around 6 months in the refrigerator. You will know your flour has gone bad if it has a sour smell or bitter taste. Airtight storage also helps keep your flour fresh and bug free!
Here is a quick guide on how to store your flour:
Refined flours are made from wheat that have had the germ and the bran removed before crushing. This means there is less oil in the flour which gives refined flours a longer shelf life.
Types: All-purpose, self-rising, bread, pastry
Storage: A cool, dry place
Shelf life: 1-2 years
WHOLE GRAIN FLOURS:
Whole grain flours retain the germ from the seen which adds nutrients and oil. Exposing oil to air causes it to oxidize which may make it become rancid.
Types: wheat, spelt, teff, quinoa, millet, amaranth, barley, ancient grains, buckwheat, oat flour, medium or dark rye
Storage: Refrigerator or freezer
Shelf life: a few months
NUT & ALTERNATIVE FLOURS:
Types: nut meals and flours, coconut flour, wheat germ, rice bran, flaxseed meal
Storage: refrigerator or freezer
Shelf life: 6 months in the refrigerator, 12 months in the freezer
Prunes are great! I also love dried apricots, they have a similar texture!
The 7 Day Clean Start is one of our most popular programs so that may be a good one to start with! It includes a one week meal plan, recipes and grocery list and is not based on calories so you can really eat as much as you want / need since you are breastfeeding!
The 90-day plant-based program is also great & is broken into 3 phases (months). It provides more of a guide for reading or listening to the HGG Nutrition Plan Chapters and slowly transitioning into a plant-based diet over 90 days & also includes meal plans and recipes 🙂
It just depends on what sounds best for you! However if you’re wanting some ideas for healthy filling meals fast, I’d go with the 7-Day Clean Start!!
Thanks Holli!! You’re so sweet 🙂 xx Megan
Take time to rest and take care of you!!!
That’s great Cindy!! Way to go!!
